My husband is cooking dinner tonight, no surprise there, he always does the cooking. I can smell it as I "play"on the puter. Chicken in the oven seasoned with rosemary, sage, thyme, salt & pepper. Made me think of the song by Simon & Garfunkel - Scarborough Faire also known as Parsely, Rosemary, Sage & Thyme. Made me wonder how many times a word or a smell with make you remember a song. Or the other way around. We are a musical lot and so much of our life is depended on it. My husband once was a professional drummer and played with several bands in his home town of Albuquerque. He currently playes keyboards, much like his brother Matt. My kids both played in their high school band and my daughter is attending Troy Univ. studying to be a music teacher.
Primative man banged on drums, made instruments out of wood, danced, sang and had a merry ole' time with music throughout the ages. New age music today sounds from the future of space and traveling beyond. I guess we will always have music in some shape or form in our lives. I remember when I first started paying attention to the radio and selecting the music I wanted to listen to. My taste in music varies widely from the mild easy listening, old school funk, 70's classic rock, love metal and so on.
Which brings me back to how often have you heard a song and its reminded you of something, an event, occassion, or just a fading memory. Music is woven into our very being and I think without we would be hollow.
